Grease Fan Says "Yes" to Prom

There was a special surprise in store for the audience at the May 9th evening performance of Grease – as well as for one young lady.

Before each Grease show begins, Dominic Fortuna appears on stage as a DJ for a pre-curtain call-out – when he both sings and talks to the audience. At Saturday night's performance, Dominic remarked how much he likes proms and – in fact, needed to talk to Andrew Tiamsun, a senior at Servite High School and Tiffany Feng of Fairmont High School. Both were sitting in Orchestra Row M and stood when called. Dominic said he understood that Andrew wanted to ask Tiffany to be his prom date, and would she? The young lady, who is headed to Boston in the fall for college, immediately accepted, setting off a round of applause and cheers from the audience.

Way to go Andrew! Have fun at the prom you two (they are pictured right).

Taylor Hicks to Perform on American Idol

Taylor Hicks is going back to the show where it all started - American Idol. AI's season five champ will be a guest on Wednesday (April 29) night's program. Hicks will perform his song, "Seven Mile Breakdown" from his latest album.

Hicks will go from Idol to Angel when he appears at the Center in the touring production of Grease which runs April 28 - May 10. In Grease, Hicks plays the role of Teen Angel. He made his debut in the role last summer. Hicks said Grease is "such a great opportunity to visit old fans and new fans across the country while bringing them a great Broadway show!”

*Hicks will not appear in the April 29 performance of Grease due to his American Idol engagement.

AI Winner Taylor Hicks Keeping Busy

Nothing is better than seeing Taylor Hicks perform live in Grease (it plays here April 28-May 10), but you can catch him on Kelly & Regis before he makes his way to the Southland. Taylor will make two appearances on the perennially popular talk show. On Friday, February 20, Taylor will be a guest as part of the show's "Celebrity Week" and on Monday, March 2, he'll return to perform a song from his soon-to-be released album, The Distance. He will sing his new single, "What's Right is Right" from The Distance, which will be released March 20.

Grease kicks off national tour tonight

Grease, currently playing on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theater, kicks off its national tour tonight at the Providence Performing Arts Center. The tour, which stars American Idol winner Taylor Hicks as the Teen Angel, makes its way to the Center April 28 - May 10 as part of the Bank of America Broadway Series.
